Burials at Sea Miami Follows EPA Regulations
As more and more people are opting for burials at sea, we find it important to ensure we follow all EPA regulations.
According to EPA Regulations:
- No plastic materials can be used
- Caskets must be drilled
- Additional weight can be added to the casket
- Stainless steel chains should be wrapped around the casket
- Cremated remains that are not scattered should be placed in a biodegradable container
Requirements Before a Burial Ceremony
Preparing a service for a loved one can be a stressful time. We’re here to help take some of the stress away from you by explaining what is required before your loved one’s service.
Here are the requirements for a sea-based burial and ash-scattering ceremony:
Death Certificate: You must have a registered death certificate for your loved one.
Notice Format: A notice allowing you to move your loved one’s body. This can be obtained from the registrar's office.
Doctor's Certificate: To comply with environmental guidelines, the individual to be laid to rest must be free from infection. It’s required to obtain a certificate from the attending Physician.
